ECD Pilgrim

I have lived my entire life near either side of the Eastern Continental Divide. And, I am a pilgrim on a road that is narrow and not easy that leads to the Celestial City of God. On my journey, I attempt to live and apply the Gospel in this world that is not my home. These are some of my observations from a Biblical and Reformed perspective.

Living in the World
The War on Terror…the next stage

Now that Rummy is out what happens next on the War on Terror? I hope we do not lose sight of the issue of Islamic fascism. While America is not God’s chosen people Christians must never forget that we are at odds with Islam. Scripture is the story of Christ and His redemption of His people. The Qur’an, on the other hand, is the final received word of Allah. It is a book of law, and as Paul says the law cannot redeem but kills. This is a conflict of the ages. Light against darkness; good against evil; truth against lies. And, while this country may have trouble deciding what it stands for, the ancient conflict is again in full swing.

No doubt that our dependency on oil fuels [no pun intended] the conflict. The Jihad party has never changed. Now, they have the wherewithal to wage their deadly battle. And, no policy of the USA will change it except capitulation to the radical Islamists. Only seriously religious folks can see the issues. The secularist believes there are answers in negotiations and “we are the world” and “can’t we all just get along”. So, we have a problem. As the USA slides more deeply into secular humanism as its guiding philosophy, how will policies reflect the great divide between Christianity and Islam?

In an era of political correctness and religious pluralism it is easier to call Islam a religion of peace and grant it moral equivalence with Christianity. It is all part of the trashing of western civilization and believing it to be the greatest threat to mankind. But, that is what our academic, media, political and religious elites want us to think. Gender, race and sexual repression within our own culture is a more dire threat than Islam. We must continue to blow away that smokescreen and defend a western culture that was brought forth from a Judeo-Christian belief and ethic. And, Christians must be willing to defend Scriptural truths that have convicted those who gave us the inheritance we have squandered by living in a way that fails to reflect who we are in Christ.

We cannot know what is next. But, we can walk by faith in Christ and live in the light of Christ. Many who profess Christianity do not really have any idea what that means. They do not know what they believe. And, if they know not what they believe, how will they defend it? And, more importantly, how will they pass it on as the faith once and for all delivered? While the world may turn a blind eye to the threat of Islam, the true believer does not because we learned Christ, heard Christ and have been taught in Christ [Eph. 4: 20, 21]. The War on Terror…He has won it.
